Welcome to the Clifftown Theatre & Studios website.

Built in 1865 with its magnificent gothic bell tower and stunning fascia, Clifftown United Reformed Church has been one of the finest sites in Southend for over a century. Purchased by the University of Essex in 2008, it has been transformed into a stunning state-of-the-art Theatre and performance space, and was awarded the Southend Society's 'Clifftown Award' for 2010. With 5 rehearsal studios and a dynamic theatre space, Clifftown Theatre & Studios has given rise to a diverse range of shows, workshops, summer schools, community events and professional touring productions, and is home to the world renowned East 15 Acting School.

Two spectacular World Theatre performances of the much loved pieces 'Government Inspector' by Nikolai Gogol and 'Hayavadanna' by Girish Karnad: Wed 15th - Sat 18th May including a Friday matinee!
